Yesterday Heart 4 Children Ministries’ Central & Western OK Coordinator, JJ Francais, his wife Robin (our Secretary) as well as other volunteers spent the day in Midwest City, OK assisting children who had been forced to evacuate their mobile homes on Sunday due to flooding. They had gone to the mobile home park Sunday with some supplies as the families were being evacuated. Twenty to thirty children will need supplies & toys as their belonging are ruined. They are currently living with their families in a shelter.
Between the tornadoes and the flooding eighteen people have died in the OKC Metro, six of them children. As of last night four people are still missing, three of them children (news9.com).
Over seven inches of rain fell in the OKC Metro area between May 31st and June 1st. Then this morning this area–already inundated with water–received more heavy rain prompting a flash flood warning to be issued. According to The Weather Channel later today and again tomorrow there will be another chance of severe weather, but not a tornado outbreak, in the OKC Metro.
We are helping 40 children that lost their belongings in the OK tornadoes and now have added 20-30 children that had to be evacuated due to flooding.
If you want to help us help the children, you can send new toys. We only give new toys to these children, because we want each child to have something new of their own after going through a traumatic event such as a tornado or flood. You can mail the new toys to: Heart 4 Children Ministries, PO BOX 1594, Chickasha, OK 73023. If you plan to send via UPS, please address your package to: The Bookstore, Attn: JJ Francais, 428 S. 3rd St. Chickasha, OK 73018. As always you can donate via our secure PayPal link by clicking on donate on the right side of this page, please put FLOOD SURVIVORS or TORNADO SURVIVORS in the memo. Thanks so much. ~The Heart 4 Children Ministries Team
