Oh boy guess we better keep an eye to the sky and keep our weather radios on Oklahoma and Kansas fans! Just this morning we were in the low threat category.. that’s #okwx for ya!!
Sure hope and pray that everyone in the plains has their “Hidey Hole” cleaned out and their severe weather plan in place this week!
April and May 2016 have proven that folks in the plains and elsewhere need to be prepared for not only tornadoes but straight winds, hails and floods! This week looks to be shaping up to be another week where we may have to deal with any or all of the elements of severe weather: hail, high winds, flooding and yes the dreaded “T” word–possible tornadoes!
Our concern is especially for the kids as they depend on their parents and caretakers to keep them safe! This week there are chances for severe weather almost every day and not just in OK! One of my favorite colors is red, but not when it’s on a severe weather map!! We have already begun praying! #Mayweather #okwx #severeweather ~Mikaela and the Heart 4 Children Ministries Team
God is so good, look at all the clothes and shoes we were able to bless the 13 kids with today!!! Pics of Coko the (worn out but very loved on) Disaster Relief Dog will be posted shortly. The kids loved their new clothes and shoes and enjoyed spending time with Coko. One of the kids begged us (and her Mom) to let her take Coko home with her because “she was so cute and she needed a dog for inside–so adorable!” We are so thankful to God and all of our donors for helping us to make this happen. ~Mikaela & The Heart 4 Children Ministries Team

It’s time for an update. After speaking with the Grady County, OK Emergency Management Director, the county where Ninnekah is located, we now have three families (12 children) that we will be helping whose homes were hit by the 4.29.16 Ninnekah, OK tornado. Ninnekah is SE of Oklahoma City (see map) and just 8 miles South of Chickasha where we used to have an office. More tornado video from tornadoes that hit Oklahoma last week. Latest count is now up to 12 tornadoes hit the Sooner State on 4.26.16, thankfully all were no higher than EF1! For more on this please go to http://www.newson6.com/story/31857836/greenleaf-state-park-sustains-major-tree-damage
We now have the clothes and shoe sizes for one of the families and, of course, what toys they like –with 3 children–that lost everything in one of the OK tornadoes last week, so we will begin working on a box (or two) for them. We are still working to get information on the other family–5 or 6 children. If you would like to help, you can mail your check to:

According to Tulsa’s Channel 6 Meteorologist Dick Faurot, there are now 8 confirmed tornadoes from the squall line that came through Oklahoma on 4.26.16. One of those tornadoes was in Arkansas. The National Weather Service is still not done surveying the damage. There is another chance for severe weather today in Oklahoma.

Thankful that some schools in Central OK are canceling classes today due to the tornado threat in today’s Severe Weather, putting the children first after lives were lost in schools in Moore in May of 2013. They remember the destruction and loss of life in two schools at that time and want their students to be safe. Alabama protected their children as well beginning before they experienced the devastating 4.27.11 tornadoes as well. For more information on the OK schools closing click on the link below (info on the OK schools gathered from news9.com) For more details on this story please click on this link http://www.news9.com/story/31811834/mid-del-schools-cancels-classes-due-to-risk-of-severe-weather~Mikaela & The Heart 4 Children Ministries Team
As I continue to follow the forecast for tomorrow’s Severe Weather event and how far ahead it has been talked about, it reminds me of a similar forecast in May 2013. Do you remember all the tornadoes in Central OK on May 19th and then the EF5 on May 20th in Moore in 2013?
I am asking that you all go to the Lord and ask for His protection on OK especially Central OK as it is now in the High Threat Level, as is one Southern Kansas County. Ask Him to protect the children especially. For more details on the forecast, please click on the newson6.com link below. Hanging tight here in Northeastern OK and praying for protection especially for the children. http://www.newson6.com/story/31811897/severe-weather-likely-across-oklahoma-on-tuesday ~Mikaela & The Heart 4 Children Ministries Team
