We spoke to the Emergency Management Director in Roane County, WV today and now have a contact person for the Red Cross in Roane and the surrounding counties. We are hoping to hear back from theRed Cross representative in the Oklahoma counties of Gavin and Commanche any day now. Hopefully soon we will know how many children need our help. If you would like to help please go to this safe link Donate, you can give via Pay Pal or mail a check to our office. As always we appreciate any gifts that you would like to give for the children. ~Mikaela & The Heart 4 Children Ministries Team
Thankfully since the tornadoes hit in Oklahoma last Friday, it has been quiet here. But it is May, the biggest month for tornadoes in OK & Kansas and severe weather is again in the forecast this time for Mother’s Day. Hoping and praying that there are no tornadoes in OK or KS on Mother’s Day. ~Mikaela & The Heart 4 Children Ministries Team
Looking for a way to make a difference in other people’s lives and to bless others whenever possible? Here are a few ideas:
- Babysit for a single mother so she can have “me” time
- Volunteer at a school.
- Visit someone who has no one in a nursing home or assisted living facility
- Offer to go grocery shopping for someone who is unable to get out
- Clean someone’s home anonymously (you may need help from a family member to do this one!
Or whatever else will bless someone else and cause you to give of yourself. After all we know who gets the best blessing…the giver. ~Mikaela Hulstine & The Heart 4 Children Ministries Team
Tomorrow we will be meeting with a local organization and giving them some of the hand crocheted things that were lovingly made and given to us to give out a couple months ago for children in need. So glad that we had to delay delivering the goodies for the kids to the Director of Katie’s Christmas Hope, Duana Newcomb-Eckroat, until this Saturday, because we got a call this morning that we will post about later when we get all the details that will mean more goodies to take tee hee. SO PUMPED to be packing boxes for both Katie’s Christmas Hope and the local organization we are blessed to be helping! My heart is so full. ~Mikaela and the Heart 4 Children Ministries Team
Since our focus is on children, I wanted to share this cute story about 2 brothers in Minnesota. Unlike our usual posts about children who have been through tornadoes, floods, fires or some other tragic circumstance, these brothers are making national news for something quite unusual. Please click on the link below and read their story. Hope that it puts a Texas-size smile on your face like it did on mine 🙂
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. What do these pictures tell you about Northeastern Ok? The top two were taken in Bartlesville, OK where there has been minor flooding. But the Caney River can still rise as it has not crested yet. The bottom two taken just north of Ramona, OK, about 25 miles south of Bartlesville, the bridge has been washed out due to the flooding rains and the road is closed. And still more rain is in the forecast for nearly every day this week.
In Oklahoma we are usually do our best to prepare for tornadoes but flooding like we have seen like this all over the state on the other hand is quite unusual. According to Oklahoma Own newson6.com: “The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) says at least 15 highways have been closed across the state due to high water from flooding,” For more on this story go here: http://www.newson6.com/story/29144394/high-water-closes-over-a-dozen-oklahoma-highway Sure hoping we don’t see another time like the Flood of ’86 here in OK. Just remember if you see flood waters, turn around don’t drown! ~The Heart 4 Children Ministries Team

We have lost several of our directors due to their health conditions and are praying that God will send us people who have the heart that we have to help children. ~Mikaela

THERE WERE 187 KIDS IN GRADES K-12 THAT WERE AFFECTED by the tornado in Vilonia, AR on 4.27.14. We do not yet have individual needs, however, we are working withthe Vilonia, AR Superintendent’s office to get that information to you. We have not yet decided whether we will be delivering the donations in person or not, it will depend on the timing. The kids will be in school until June 6th so that does not give us very much time. We are taking donations here on our website to be able to help. ~The Heart 4 Children Ministries Team
